But if you are 55 or older with low or no income, you may qualify for an income-earning job training program that can help you learn a new skill.

Its called the AARP Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). This program helps low income, older job seekers obtain the skills and work experience needed to find employment. It's a hand up, not a hand out.
��� Keep reading to find out how this program might help you or someone you know enter or reenter the workforce. Best of all, this long-standing program is available free of charge.
�� If you are eligible, AARP SCSEP can place you in a temporary, part-time work-training assignment - typically 20 hours a week earning at least the minimum wage. you could be assigned to a public or non-profit community organization such as a senior center, social or public service agency, government agency, or an educational institution.
Within this supportive environment, you can learn new skills, help you community, and earn an income while continuing to seek a job with an employer in you community.

How can I find out if I am eligible for this program?
Contact the AARP SCSEP office by E-mailing them to see if you qualify for the program. There are more than 100 AARP SCSEP sites in 33 states and Puerto Rico. AARP SCSEP is administrated through the AARP Foundation

Could I receive training?
Yes. In addition to the on-the-job training, other training opportunities may be available at the AARP SCSEP site or at local vocational facilities. Once you are enrolled, a skills assessment will help determine additional training needs and options. You also receive help developing a resum�. learning interview skills, and obtaining potential job leads.
